has closed the purchase of the Madrid supermarket chain
Sánchez Romero
with the aim of creating a giant in the sector and consolidating itself as a leader in quality supermarkets.
Sánchez Romero has 10 supermarkets in Madrid with a surface area of more than 9,000 square meters.
It also has a 4,000-square-meter distribution platform installed in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), where the company's offices and headquarters are also located.
El Corte Inglés has imposed itself on other important players in the sector such as Carrefour, as reported by the newspaper

, and has been advised by Deloitte and Santander Investment Banking, while Alantra has accompanied Sánchez Romero in the process.
Supermercados Sanchez Romero, a Spanish company founded in 1954, specialized in the retail distribution of food and mass consumption, is characterized by the breadth, variety and differentiation of the products and services it offers, by the type and format of stores, and the high quality in fresh produce.
The company, which has 419 employees, closed the 2020 financial year with a turnover of 61 million euros and an EBITDA of 6.2 million.
