As the corona crisis in the economy subsides, German companies are increasingly looking for new employees.

The Ifo employment barometer rose sharply from May to June by 3.5 to 103.7 points, as the Munich research institute announced on Tuesday.

"The openings and the booming industry are fueling the demand for labor."

In manufacturing, the rise in the employment barometer continued.

According to this, companies in the mechanical engineering and electrical industries have very expansive employment plans.

In the service sector, too, the demand for labor has made a significant leap upwards, explained the Ifo Institute. Personnel service providers in particular were looking for new staff. The trade, which has been badly shaken by the virus pandemic, is also cautiously going on the offensive with new hires. "And there is still a slightly positive trend in employment in construction."
