The Director of Happiness and Marketing Department at the Union Coop, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, said that the Department of the Coop intends to open two new shopping centers next July, in preparation for the growth of consumer demand during the Expo 2020 Dubai.
He added to "Emirates Today" that the two new centers will open in two locations close to the exhibition site, as the first will be in the "Al Barsha South" area as a large commercial shopping center (Mall), and it will be opened and operated in mid-July 2021, while the second center will be opened in the "Street Street" area. Hessah, in early July, and it will be in the form of a mini-shopping center, including a branch of the "cooperative", in addition to a number of stores in different sectors.
Al Bastaki confirmed that the two centers come within the framework of the Union Coop's expansion plans and preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai, which is expected to contribute to increasing consumer demand, with the expectation of receiving a large number of visitors, in addition to representatives of companies and pavilions participating in the exhibition.
Al Bastaki revealed that the Tawuniya administration also intends to open a new branch in the “Jumeirah First” area ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai, indicating that these branches keep pace with the expected growth in demand, as well as meet the growth of consumer demand in the surrounding areas.
He stressed that "Expo 2020 Dubai" will be a stimulating factor for many sectors related to retail trade, whether in the areas of supply or the movement of demand for retail outlets.
Al Bastaki stated that the Tawuniya is developing an e-commerce platform affiliated with it, and working to increase the number of goods available through the platform, pointing out that it has established a technical center for logistical support in e-commerce, which provides various alternatives for dealers during Expo 2020 Dubai.
