On the 26th, the fourth phase of the Jiangsu Suzhou Taicang Port project undertaken by China Communications Third Shipping Bureau was completed and passed the acceptance inspection, marking that it became the first automated container terminal in the Yangtze River Basin.

  The Port of Taicang was formerly called Liujiagang. It used to be known as the "Six Nations Terminal" and "The World's Number One Terminal". It was the anchorage for Zheng He's seven voyages to the West.

But after the Ming Dynasty, the port gradually fell silent.

In early 1992, the local government re-developed Taicang Port.

Now Taicang Port is an important part of Suzhou Port, the largest port in China's inland river. It has become the port with the largest number of routes on the Yangtze River, the largest density, and the widest coverage.

  The Taicang Port Phase IV project is located on the south bank of the Baimasha Waterway in the upper section of the southern branch of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, across the river from Chongming Island. The port area is about 38 kilometers away from Wusongkou by water, about 50 kilometers away from downtown Shanghai by land, and about 75 kilometers away from downtown Suzhou. Kilometers.

The construction of the project mainly includes hydraulic section and land section. The length of the wharf of the hydraulic bid section is 1,292 meters, and 4 50,000-ton container berths have been built (the hydraulic structure is designed for berthing 100,000-ton container ships) and related supporting facilities. The facility has a designed annual passing capacity of 2 million TEUs and has been completed beforehand.

  The land section of the Taicang Port Phase IV project was handed over for acceptance on the same day, with a total area of ​​914,000 square meters.

Among them, the automated heavy container yard occupies an area of ​​429,500 square meters, which mainly arranges heavy empty container yard, roads, production auxiliary areas, etc. The system construction is complicated, the technology content is high, and the construction is very difficult.

  In order to ensure that the port realizes functions such as unmanned operation, unmanned trucks, 5G base stations, and remote video surveillance in the later stage, the construction road of the terminal yard is divided into small sections by track beams, and large-scale road construction cannot be organized.

At the same time, the complicated layout of the supporting terminal electrical and control systems has brought more challenges to the project construction.

  Dai Zhipei, Project Manager of Phase IV of Taicang Port of China Communications Third Shipping Bureau, said: “Faced with the challenges brought by automated storage yards, during the construction of the project, the construction of track beams and PHC pipe piles and the construction of underground pipelines were the key processes of the project, and they actively used Information-based construction management technology tackles difficult points in projects."

  During the construction process, the project department implemented standardization management of technology and used GPS + Beidou positioning system to ensure that the alignment rate of 2,656 pile foundations reached 100%.

In addition, the project department also embeds sensors in key parts such as pile foundations, beams, and longitudinal beams of the wharf components to grasp the safe operation status of the wharf structure in real time.

This is the first time in the construction of docks nationwide, filling the gap in the integrated management of construction, management and maintenance of the water transportation industry, and providing a basis for further deepening the research on the design theory of high-pile hydraulic structures and improving relevant industry standards.

  “The construction history of CCCC Third Shipping Bureau in Taicang Port area has been nearly 30 years, and nearly 90 berths of various tonnage levels have been built in the local area. The number of wharves undertaken or participating in the construction of CCCC Third Shipping Bureau exceeds 90%. After the Taicang Port Phase IV project is put into operation, it can increase the container throughput of Taicang Port by nearly 50%, and the total throughput will reach 7 million TEUs.
