More than a month after the end of the bombings in Gaza, and the clashes between Israel and Hamas, the reasons that sparked this deadly conflict are still relevant today.
And these include the ongoing harassment of Palestinians in East Jerusalem by the Israeli occupation forces.
Repression, arrests and threats of evictions in this part of the city annexed by Israel are still relevant today.

From our permanent special correspondent in Jerusalem,
Sami Boukhelifa
7,850 people are at risk of losing their homes in East Jerusalem, according to Palestinian associations.
This Monday June 28 also marks the end of the ultimatum for a hundred families of Silwan.
21 days ago, they received orders to demolish their homes, considered illegal by the Jewish state.
Extract:
They claim that our neighborhood is a religious civilizational heritage of the Jewish people.
And it would go back thousands of years.
they say that King David, the prophet common to the three religions of the Book, lived here.
and therefore, we must destroy our homes and transform our neighborhoods into a Jewish sanctuary.
But in reality, their motives are purely political and they are very clear: they want to drive us out and they want to replace us with Jewish settlers.
It's called ethnic cleansing, and they make up this pretext that our houses were built without permission.
At the time, we didn't need a building permit (a resident of Silwan).
