El Corte Inglés
is studying leaving its historic headquarters,
located on Calle Hermosilla in Madrid, to move to other offices, specifically the facilities of the old Induyco, on Calle Tomás Bretón, near Méndez Álvaro.
In addition, they are considering the sale of several real estate assets of the company, valued in total at 16.1 billion euros.
According to the newspaper Expansión
, the group of department stores is considering reordering its portfolio of offices and moving its equipment to a single headquarters.
Although, the newspaper cites, "there is still no sale order or final decision," what is on the table is to sell one or both buildings that the group has on Hermosilla Street.
The facilities of the old Induyco are the place where the tailoring, sportswear and shirts for El Corte Inglés were made.
They came to house about 10,000 employees.
Now it is used as a sewing workshop and although there is also office space, to turn it into headquarters
the group would have to make an investment in order to refurbish it
.
In this area of Madrid are also the headquarters of Repsol and Amazon.
According to Expansión, which cites sources familiar with the group's plans, the sale of the buildings in Hermosilla could reach 200 million euros.
