The Dubai College of Tourism, affiliated with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (Dubai Tourism), in cooperation with the Dubai Academy for Entrepreneurship, the educational arm of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, launched the “Madeaf Entrepreneurship” initiative, which aims to provide support and training to willing citizens Working on special projects.

Activities and Services

The initiative, which was launched through fruitful cooperation between the Department of Localization of the Tourism Sector at the College, and the Dubai Academy for Entrepreneurship, includes many free activities and services to support idea owners, to achieve the establishment of their own projects, and these services include: awareness and introduction programs for entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises, and programs Specialized training according to the applicants’ needs, as well as technical, administrative and logistical support during the project’s establishment stages until its launch, and to facilitate access to the Foundation’s services through guidance and counseling, and other services that will be provided to qualified free of charge, to support qualified people who have determination, dream and sincere desire, to contribute to supporting the economy The state, prosperity and renaissance of the sector.

Localization of the sector

Mariam Al-Moaini, Director of the Department of Localization of the Tourism Sector at Dubai College of Tourism, said, "The new initiative is the result of joint efforts with one of our main partners in the sector, the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, represented by the Dubai Entrepreneurship Academy, where we were able to add a category Entrepreneurs to the category of national cadres deserving of support within the services of (Madeaf for Emiratisation).

She added: "The Department of Localization of the Tourism Sector was launched at Dubai College of Tourism, with the aim of supporting, attracting, training and employing citizens in the tourism sector, to enhance the tourism product and provide a pioneering tourism experience for guests, while small and medium enterprises are one of the important means to increase the participation and involvement of citizens, which have become It is an orientation of many with the support of the government, taking into account the importance of the contribution of these projects in supporting the national economy.”

Al-Muaini continued: “The initiative contributes to raising citizens’ awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship, and attracting them to the field of entrepreneurship and projects related to the tourism sector.

It will give them the opportunity to present their ideas related to the projects they wish to establish, while we will also provide support to them through training, follow-up and guidance, and providing technical advice.

While the applicant has the responsibility to commit to the success of the project and to follow up on all matters related to it.”

For her part, Director of the Dubai Academy of Entrepreneurship, Ibtihal Al-Naji, said, "Dubai has a competitive entrepreneurial ecosystem and a developed tourism sector that has contributed significantly to the successful diversification of the emirate's economy."

She added: "The Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development focuses on taking advantage of this strong system, to promote a culture of entrepreneurship, and encourage the young generation to look forward to such promising sectors, as an ideal option for their career future, especially in light of the challenges facing the job market at the state level. Through this cooperation with the Dubai College of Tourism, the Foundation seeks to establish a sustainable set of opportunities for Emiratis aspiring to start their own projects or graduates looking for jobs.

It is noteworthy that the Department of Localization of the Tourism Sector, through the “Medaf” program, continues its efforts in the process of expanding the provision of localization support services to include the rehabilitation and support of citizens looking for work in the field of entrepreneurship and emerging projects, especially related to the tourism sector, in addition to other groups that support it.
