The Fair Trade Commission prohibits Fukui Bank, which has a business base in Fukui Prefecture, from making Fukuho Bank in the same prefecture a subsidiary, saying that it will not substantially limit competition with other financial institutions. Announced that there is no legal problem.

Fukui Bank in Fukui Prefecture plans to make Fukuho Bank in the same prefecture a subsidiary in October this year.

Regarding this, the Fair Trade Commission received a notification from Fukui Bank last month and was examining whether there were any problems under the Antimonopoly Act.

The share of loans to SMEs of both banks will be about 35% to 50% depending on the region, but since there are multiple influential financial institutions competing in each region, the conditions for borrowing by SMEs by making them subsidiaries I decided that it would be possible to switch to another financial institution even if it got worse.

For this reason, the Japan Fair Trade Commission has concluded that there is no problem under the Antimonopoly Act, saying that the acquisition of this subsidiary will not substantially limit competition.
