JR East has announced that it will hold a "temporary leave" to rest employees for three months from the 1st of next month, saying that the business situation is still severe due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

This is the first time JR East has taken a temporary leave after privatization.

According to the announcement, the company will take a temporary leave to rest employees for three months from the 1st of next month.

This time, the number of employees working at the head office is about 200 per day, and the number of employees working at stations is not included.

The reason for the temporary leave is that the company has reduced the number of operations due to the severe business situation caused by the new coronavirus, and that the number of operations related to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics has decreased.

This is the first time that JR East will take a temporary leave after privatization, and the company plans to pay the full salary of employees who took a leave during this period by utilizing the burden of the company and the national employment adjustment subsidy.

JR Central and JR West are also taking temporary leave at railway companies, and the effects of the new coronavirus are spreading.
