is a friendly economic time that provides economic tips in everyday life. Today (15th), I will be with reporter Kim Hye-min. These days, it is rare to go to a bank teller to send money, and most of them do mobile banking and internet banking. In addition, there have been a number of cases of wrong remittance.

<Reporter>

That's right. It's really easy to transfer money these days. I also do a lot of simple remittance with this mobile banking, Kakao, and Toss.

Therefore, the number of cases where remittances are not made by mistake is increasing every year. In 2017 alone, there were about 115,000 wrong remittances.

But last year, there were 200,000 cases. Of these, 101,000 were not returned, or half of them.

Now, if you transfer money by mistake, you have to go through the bank you sent the money to and the bank you received it, and then contact the owner of the account where the money was deposited and request a refund. The process is complicated.

Also, if the owner of the account who received the money refuses to return it or cannot be contacted, it can be returned through a lawsuit, but it takes more than 6 months.

There were a lot of cases where it cost more than 600,000 won based on the 1 million won remittance amount, so they just gave up.

So, you say that you sent the wrong one, but the recipient said that they won't return it, so you can't get it halfway. But is there a way to get a refund even if you make a mistake in the future?

<Reporter>

In the future, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation will look for this for you. If you send the wrong money by mistake and the recipient does not return it, you can apply for return assistance at this time.

When Yeebo receives an application for return support, it first purchases the 'unfair profit return' bond of the person who sent money by mistake. This is to take over the creditor status of the sender and replace the return process.

After that, it receives the information of the person who received the money from the bank or telecommunication company, and informs the fact that the remittance was by mistake and the return account.

However, if the payee does not return the money, the forecaster can even apply to the court for a 'payment order'.

A payment order is a system in which the court orders the payment of money without questioning the debtor upon application of the creditor. If the court accepts this payment order, the payee will confiscate your property and get your money back.

So, if the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation does not return the owner of the account to which the money was transferred by mistake, I will fight and accept it instead. Is it like this? It's good. But I don't think that's all. Is there a standard, can I get it back?

<Reporter>

First of all, this system will start on the 6th of the next month, and if there is money transferred by mistake after that day, you can apply for the forecast and get it back within one year.

In addition, there are a few more criteria that are included in the application, and it is said that you can apply only if the remittance amount is between 50,000 won and 10 million won.

If it is less than 50,000 won, the cost to recover the money may be greater than the remittance amount. It is said that it is more efficient to file a lawsuit if it exceeds 10 million won.

In addition, the institutions eligible for return support include banks, securities companies, Nonghyup, and post offices. These days, there are many cases of sending money using simple remittance such as Toss or Kakao Pay. This is not the case at all.

It is difficult to receive protection when sending directly from your Kakao account to someone else's Kakao account, or when sending via Toss contact remittance. This is because the forecast cannot ascertain the real name of the person receiving the money.

So, there are certain conditions that can be protected. It might be a good idea to take a look at this as well. So what if I accidentally sent the wrong one. Then you have to apply. How can I do that?

<Reporter> You

can also apply directly to the forecast office. You can also apply via PC, but if you visit the Forecast website after July 6, you can find out how to apply for a refund online.

It usually takes one to two months for the forecast to return the money. In addition, it is said that it may take a little longer only if a recovery procedure such as compulsory execution is necessary.

You can't get back all the money you sent in the wrong way. Some costs are included, such as postal guidance fees, stamp fees related to payment orders, and service charges.

The forecast estimates that if you send 1 million won by mistake, you can get back about 950,000 won if you voluntarily return it, and about 920,000 won if you order payment.

Lastly, although Forecast has created a return support system for erroneous remittances, this is an ex-post supplementary measure, so you need to be careful not to make a remittance mistake from the beginning.
