The slogans launched during the “March of the flags” are extremely violent.

We hear shouting "Death to the Arabs" and uttering threats and insults.

In the parade, some nationalist Jews even promise the destruction of the al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock, the third holy places of Islam.

Already last month, Israeli police, deployed in large numbers in the streets of Jerusalem, blocked the passage of this annual parade to Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem.

For these far-right activists, there is no question of sticking to this ban, which is seen as a real "failure".

They wanted to organize a new march this Thursday.

But once again, it was the route of the parade that posed a problem for the Israeli authorities.

Part of the march was to take place in the Palestinian neighborhoods of the Old City.

The police refused this route.

The organizers then canceled their rally.

For their part, the Palestinians regard this event as pure provocation.

Hamas, the ruling Palestinian Islamist movement in Gaza, threatened a

further escalation

if the march was sustained.
