The retail price of regular gasoline this week was 152.9 yen per liter on average nationwide, up 0.4 yen from last week.

The reason is that the vaccination of the new coronavirus is progressing in the United States and Europe, and the crude oil price is rising due to expectations for a recovery in the economy.

According to the Petroleum Information Center, which is entrusted by the government to investigate gasoline prices, the retail price of regular gasoline as of the 7th was 152.9 yen per liter on the national average, an increase of 0.4 yen compared to last week.

This is the highest level in 2 years and 7 months since November 2018.

Vaccination with the new coronavirus is progressing in the United States and Europe, and expectations for a recovery in the economy are rising. In addition, major oil-producing countries such as Saudi Arabia and Russia will change their crude oil production from the previous plan by next month. The decision not to do so reflects the rise in crude oil prices.

Regarding the outlook for the future, the Oil Information Center said, "Crude oil prices continue to rise, and gasoline prices may reflect these movements next week."
