The UAE is among the top 20 globally in 13 competitive indicators related to the transport sector during 2020

Five international references specialized in competitiveness ranked the UAE among the top 20 globally in 13 indicators related to the transport sector during the year 2020, which enhances the balance of successes achieved by the state in the sector during the past years.

The UAE has been keen during the last period to ensure the achievement of sustainable development in conjunction with preserving the environment at the same time.

The "UAE Vision 2021" included principles that emphasize the importance of infrastructure, with the aim of making the country among the best in the world in the transport sector, particularly the quality of airports, seaports, road infrastructure and other facilities related to the sector.

The monitoring carried out by the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics shows that the international references that ranked the UAE among the world's top leaders included the World Economic Forum, the World Bank and Legatum Institute, in addition to the Bertelmann Stifting Foundation and the International Institute for Management Development.

It was striking in the UAE’s achievements in the transport sector that the UAE ranked second globally in the air transport quality index according to the Competitiveness Yearbook issued by the International Institute for Management Development, while the logistic performance report issued by the World Bank ranked it fourth in the shipment timing index and fifth in the shipments index International.

The air transport quality index measures the rank of countries in this regard and their compatibility with international standards. Over the past years, the UAE has succeeded in providing a distinctive legislative environment for the transport sector in general and an infrastructure that is the largest in the Middle East to serve air transport in particular, where there are the largest airports and a large fleet of aircraft, as well as the logistics needed for the sector.

According to the Legatum Institute's Prosperity Index report and the Sustainable Development Goals report, the UAE was ranked sixth globally in the public transport satisfaction index, while it ranked seventh in the air transport infrastructure quality index, according to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report issued by the World Economic Forum.

In the port services efficiency index, the country ranked 12th according to the Global Competitiveness Report 4.0 and 11th place in the same index according to the Prosperity Index report. It also ranked the same in the air transport index according to the Global Competitiveness Yearbook.

The Global Competitiveness Report also ranked the UAE thirteenth in the Index of Connecting Regular Shipping Lines, while the Prosperity Index report ranked it fourteenth in the same index, and according to the Logistics Performance Report issued by the World Bank, it ranked the same in the Tracking and Tracing of Shipments Index.

As for the road transport efficiency index, the UAE was ranked fifteenth globally, according to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report issued by the World Economic Forum.

In light of the continuous development witnessed by the transport sector in the UAE, it is expected that the country will rise to higher levels during the coming period in all competitiveness indicators related to the sector and issued by all specialized international institutions.
