Gasoline prices at gas stations nationwide continued to rise for the fifth straight week.



According to the Korea National Oil Corporation oil price information service Opinet, the average selling price of gasoline at gas stations nationwide in the first week of June was 1,554.1 won per liter, up 6.7 won from the previous week.



Recently, domestic gasoline prices have risen gradually to 0.3 won, 2.7 won, 5.6 won, 4.9 won, and 6.7 won.



By region, the highest price in Seoul was 1,637.3 won per liter, which was 83.2 won higher than the national average.



Daegu, the lowest price area, recorded 1,522.4 won per liter, 31.8 won lower than the national average.



By brand, GS Caltex was the most expensive at 1,561.6 won per liter, and thrifty gas station was the cheapest at 1527.7 won per liter.



The selling price of diesel at gas stations nationwide was 1,351 won per liter, up 6.6 won from the previous week.



International oil prices rose from last week amid expectations for a global economic recovery.



The average price of Dubai crude, which is the standard for crude oil imported into Korea, was $69.1 per barrel, up $2.2 from last week.



International gasoline prices rose by 0.6 dollars to 75.6 dollars per barrel, and international automobile diesel rose 1.8 dollars to 76.6 dollars per barrel.



The Korea National Oil Corporation explained, "International oil prices recorded an upward trend this week due to improvements in manufacturing indicators in major countries, maintenance of OPEC's positive (+) plan to ease production cuts, and improvements in mobility indicators centered on the US and Europe."
