Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) concluded the "Smart Life Championship 2071" that it launched through its smart application, with the aim of instilling environmental values ​​in an easy and interesting way, and raising the level of customers' awareness about the importance of rationalization and adopting a sustainable lifestyle.

The authority presented valuable prizes to 2071 winners, following the date of the celebration of the UAE Centennial in 2071.

The tournament, in which nearly 16,900 people participated, revolved around the "Smart Life" initiative that enables customers to monitor their electricity and water consumption, make smart choices to rationalize consumption in a proactive, autonomous and digital manner, and solve all problems and obstacles that cause increased waste and consumption without referring to the authority. .

The managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said, “The authority, as a socially responsible government institution, is committed to engaging all members of society in achieving sustainable development by providing smart services that help them rationalize consumption and encourage them to reduce waste and extravagance. And informing them of the methods of preserving the natural resources for our future generations, in line with the goals of (UAE Centennial 2071) to make the UAE the best country in the world. The authority adopts innovation and the latest technologies of the fourth industrial revolution and technologies supported by artificial intelligence and big data to develop its services according to the highest standards of efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability, and to enable customers to raise the efficiency of electricity and water consumption, thus contributing to reducing the carbon footprint, and achieving the energy and water demand management strategy to reduce consumption by 30% by 2030, and the authority's vision to be a global leader in sustainable and innovative.

The “Smart Life” initiative has scored important achievements since its launch last year. This year it won the “Banner of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Government Services 2020” and won the “Outstanding Innovation” award within the “Global Business Excellence Awards” 2021 organized by the Intelligence Awards Foundation, based in United kingdom.

The initiative has achieved remarkable results, as more than 900,000 customers have benefited from it since it was launched by the authority in July of last year until the end of April 2021.
