With the aim of expanding exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food, the government held a meeting of relevant ministers on the 28th to create an organization in which producers and distributors are united for each item such as rice and beef, and export destinations. We have decided to aim to revise the related laws so that we can work on development.

The government has set a goal of increasing the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food products from more than 900 billion yen in 2020 to 5 trillion yen in 2030.

However, in many cases, each producer and distributor is working to expand exports, and it has been pointed out that unified efforts such as product development are insufficient.

For this reason, the government held a meeting of relevant ministers on the 28th and summarized new measures such as organizing businesses to expand exports.

By doing so, we will be able to establish an integrated organization of businesses involved in production, distribution, and sales for each of the main items such as rice and beef.

This group will work to develop overseas export destinations by enhancing the ability to communicate as a domestic brand by establishing common standards for product quality and conducting overseas market research.

In addition, the policy is to provide financial support for the maintenance of facilities such as refrigerators necessary for export, and to revise the law to carry out such efforts.

Prime Minister Suga "The goal is fully feasible"

At the meeting, Prime Minister Suga said, "Even with the new corona virus, global agricultural exports are on the rise. If reforms are made with the idea of creating what overseas markets are looking for, exports for one year The target of 2 trillion yen in 2025 and 5 trillion yen in 2030 is fully feasible. The government will do its utmost to raise local income by making agriculture a growth industry in the region. ".
