As efforts toward a carbon-free society accelerate globally, major domestic financial groups will take more in-depth measures, such as deciding to suspend financing for coal-fired power plants that emit a large amount of carbon dioxide. There are a lot of movements.

Of these, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group has tightened its lending policy for coal-fired power plants.

Until now, as a general rule, we have decided not to lend to new equipment, but from next month we will not lend even if we expand existing equipment.

In addition, "Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group" has decided not to provide loans with some exceptions, and "Mizuho Financial Group" has already decided on plans for coal-fired power plants with some exceptions. However, we have changed our policy to not provide loans.

Environmental groups and others are calling for stricter financing for coal-fired power plants, which emit a large amount of carbon dioxide.

For this reason, the major financial groups aim to show their stance toward the realization of a carbon-free society at home and abroad by taking more in-depth measures than before.
