Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has announced a policy to strengthen its business to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, such as developing power generation facilities that use hydrogen and ammonia, as the movement toward decarbonization is accelerating around the world.

On the 10th, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced the outline of the business to be strengthened from this year onward in line with the announcement of financial results.

According to this, we have focused on the thermal power generation business so far, but as the movement of decarbonization is accelerating in the world, we will strengthen the business to reduce carbon dioxide.

Specifically, we are developing technology for thermal power generation using hydrogen and ammonia, aiming to commercialize gas turbines that use these as fuel by 2025.

In addition, we will expand the business of recovering carbon dioxide from factories, etc., and move employees to these fields.

Seiji Izumisawa, president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, said, "The basic technology has almost been developed, and we will demonstrate it for commercialization while observing the market conditions. In the future, a wide range of technologies will be required. , We will also collaborate with start-up companies. "

On the other hand, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' financial results for the previous year were affected by the new coronavirus, and profits temporarily deteriorated in its main aircraft-related business, but after that, it picked up and the "business profit and loss", which is the profit of the main business, was the same as the previous year. It changed from a deficit to a surplus and reached 54 billion yen.
