[Explanation] The first China International Consumer Goods Fair is being launched in Haikou, Hainan.

On May 8, Irish Ambassador to China Andavin introduced in an interview with China News Agency that more than 20 Irish brands will participate in this Expo, many of which are coming to China for the first time.

The Consumer Fair has provided Ireland with an opportunity to showcase our high-quality products to the Chinese market and Chinese consumers. Many high-end Irish brands have entered the sight of Chinese consumers for the first time through the Consumer Fair.

[Explanation] With the help of this Consumer Expo, Irish companies participating in the Expo have seen the potential of the Chinese market and also felt the attractiveness of the Chinese market.

The Consumer Expo can attract more than a thousand brands from 69 countries and regions to participate in the exhibition, which is inseparable from China's anti-epidemic efforts.

Andavin pointed out that despite the impact of the epidemic in the past year, Ireland and China still maintain a strong trade relationship.

China's epidemic prevention and control has done a good job, and I have also witnessed China's epidemic prevention results.

Despite the impact of the epidemic, the total volume of bilateral trade between Ireland and China increased by 18% last year. We hope that bilateral trade can go further this year.

[Explanation] When it comes to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Andaiwen said that he is very optimistic about it.

Some local talent introduction measures and preferential tax policies will increase Hainan’s consumption power and drive more corporate investment.

Andavin said that waiting for the end of the epidemic, he looks forward to more Chinese tourists coming to Ireland for tourism.

(I am optimistic about the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port) The second point is because of the preferential taxation policies and systems of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

This is also an advantage for Ireland as an island country to attract investors for a long time. We will continue to maintain and develop this advantage.

In 2019, Ireland received more than 110,000 Chinese tourists.

We hope that when international tourism restarts, we welcome more Chinese tourists to visit and play in Ireland.
