(The First Consumer Fair) Global Brands Look at China: Deeply Open Up, Determined and Acting

China News Agency, Haikou, May 9th (Reporter Liang Xiaohui) China's deepening of opening up is not just a matter of words, but concrete measures.

The holding of the first Consumer Expo has confirmed this with practical actions, and has become the "impression of China" in the mouths of many participating foreign companies.

At present, a total of 1,365 international brands from 69 countries and regions are presenting their specialty products at the Consumer Fair.

According to KPMG Asia Pacific and China Chairman Tao Kuangchun, the participation of so many foreign brands once again proves China's determination to promote a high level of opening up to the outside world. It also shows that foreign companies are optimistic about the Chinese market and have full confidence in China's economic development.

He said that China, as the world's most potential consumer market, insists on opening up to the outside world and setting up exhibitions such as the "Consumer Fair" will also provide more opportunities for cooperation between countries.

At present, China has proposed to "accelerate the construction of a new development pattern with domestic and international cycles as the main body and mutual promotion of domestic and international cycles."

Faberui, president of L'Oréal Group North Asia, believes that the Consumer Expo is showing China's determination to promote openness through a dual-cycle policy, and it is also a pioneering measure to release the market potential of Hainan and even the whole of China.

Chen Kai, Chairman of Ernst & Young China and CEO of Greater China, also believes that the Consumer Goods Expo will not only drive the growth of consumer goods trade, but also further promote the formation of a new domestic and international "dual cycle" development pattern by connecting domestic and international markets.

In the eyes of many participating foreign brands, their participation in the Consumer Expo is also to "seize opportunities" in China's further opening up.

Switzerland, the guest country of the Consumer Expo, led more than 40 brands to make their debut.

Luo Zhiyi, its ambassador to China, admitted that they were not only here for the Consumer Fair.

"We are fully aware that the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port is a comprehensive vision. In the long run, it is also to attract more and more companies to come here."

The outside world has noticed that the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port is China's actual action to expand its opening up, and it shows China's consistent determination to expand its opening up.

A white paper believes that Hainan Free Trade Port is expected to become the world's largest tourism duty-free retail market in the next two years.

This also gives the world a huge opportunity.

Kenji Shimizu, chief representative of the Guangzhou Representative Office (South China Representative Office) of the Japan External Trade Organization, who has visited China many times, said that China’s open environment is becoming more and more felt, especially the Hainan Free Trade Port policy has eliminated tariff thresholds. It also shows China's sincerity in opening up.

In the past two days, companies have taken the initiative to come to the door, and the efficiency is very high. Some bonded areas and tax-free companies have come to negotiate.

Looking to the future, Guo Mu, President of Herbalife China and Senior Vice President of the World, also said that the business opportunities of China's consumption upgrade, the growing market, and the determination to actively open up to the world have given companies an opportunity to develop in China.
