At Fleurop this Mother's Day gifts were bought for an average of 43.57 euros.
This means that the amount per order at the florist is about 16 percent higher than a year earlier.
This is mainly because in addition to bouquets and flower arrangements, extra gifts such as flower vases and photo cards have often been sold.
"More and more people are ordering a gift shop item with a bouquet," says Jeroen de Zwart, CEO of Fleurop.
"This year, chocolate, which has been added to nearly 10 percent of orders, is the favorite extra."
Flower deliverer Fleurop already announced in the run-up to Mother's Day that he expects to sell five to six times as much as usual. "The weekend before Mother's Day, about 50 percent extra orders are already coming in. During the week this increases further, whereby it is even five to six times as busy as normal on Friday or Saturday", De Zwart told NU. NL.
