Dubai Customs chairs the arbitration podium for 26 projects in “Al Mawakeb Innovate 2”

On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day 2021, the Dubai Customs Department culminated in its activities by organizing the Department of Intellectual Property Rights Protection in the Department and Al-Mawakeb Private School, the "Al-Mawakeb Innovates 2" competition, launched by the school, while "Dubai Customs" presided over the arbitration platform for this event.

In a statement yesterday, the department affirmed its keenness to consolidate the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, by working to support talented people with new ideas and innovations, to protect their rights by creativity in developing new ideas and innovations, which are the basis for development from which societies launch to achieve progress and prosperity.

According to the statement, more than 26 projects were judged within standards related to sustainability and innovation, and critical discussion sessions took place between the judges and students.

At the end of the competition, he announced the names of the winning projects that were unique, such as the idea of ​​cubes for the visually impaired, and the educational DNA game.

The Director of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department, Youssef Uzair Mubarak, said, “The celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day becomes more important in 2021, the 50th year of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee, as the country has been distinguished by creativity and innovation in its achievements over the past 50 years, thanks to the keenness of the leadership. To create an integrated environment for creativity and innovation in the country, that protects the rights of talented and innovators, and at the same time provides protection for society from the harms and risks of infringement of intellectual property rights.

For her part, the Senior Director of the Awareness and Education Department at the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department, Mahbouba Baqer, said that “the activities of (Dubai Customs) on the World Intellectual Property Day included intensive awareness and education activities that included introducing the role of protecting intellectual property rights to support small and medium enterprises and sponsoring The ideas and innovations of students and new generations, in addition to introducing methods of combating counterfeit goods, by distinguishing them from the original goods, which enables inspectors and customs officials to control counterfeit goods and prevent them from entering the local markets.
