At the construction site of Zhangjihuai Railway, the WPZ-500 intelligent ballastless track laying unit developed by the Fourth Bureau of China Railway successfully laid a pair of 500-meter-long steel rails in place, marking the successful landing of China's first intelligent ballastless track laying unit.

It is reported that this is the first intelligent ballastless track laying unit independently researched and developed by China. It consists of four intelligent equipment including long rail intelligent sorting vehicles, push vehicles, roller recovery vehicles and tractors. It can intelligently complete the quasi-traction and traction of long rails. Push, roller precise placement, automatic roller recycling, stacking, reverse transportation and other processes.

Compared with traditional track laying methods, this unit saves 63% of auxiliary operators and increases the degree of mechanization to 90%.
