is something called an'open ticket' where you can freely choose the boarding date for the flight. However, as it becomes difficult to travel abroad due to Corona 19, there are many cases where the expiration date for this use is missed. There have also been reports that airlines are not properly guiding them.

Reporter Jeon Hyeong-woo covered it.

Kim Hyun-soo, a former resident of Uzbekistan, bought an open air ticket to Korea in 2019.

I tried to return to Korea in June 2020, but flights to Korea were suspended due to Corona 19.

[Kim Hyun-su: (A local employee in Uzbekistan) does not know when the operation will resume, so it will be automatically extended later at the headquarters level (there will be an action.)]

Mr. Kim himself returned to Korea three months before the suspension of the operation, and then resumed operation. Ahead of this, a family member left in the country inquired with the airline to write an open ticket, and an absurd answer came back.

It means that the ticket cannot be used after the one-year deadline has passed from the date of purchase.

[Kim Hyun-su: There was no notification. Then,'Why didn't you extend the ticket when the ticket has expired? It is the customer's mistake not to extend the extension.'(He said.)]

The answer from the customer center was the same.

[Customer Center: The validity period itself is over, so we cannot change or refund at all, customer.]

When the SBS coverage began, Korean Air said, "There was an error in the customer center processing process," and that it would give a refund later.

In March of last year, Mr. A, who had to postpone a trip to Jeju Island due to Corona 19, also changed it to an open ticket and did not apply for an extension, so he issued a ticket.

We complain that there was no notice from the airline about the expiration of the deadline.

[Mr. A: As a service, I think it would be appropriate to provide text notifications.] When

asked why did not prior notice, Asiana Airlines said, "The deadline for tickets is different for each individual, so that customers can apply for extension before the deadline by themselves. I have to do it."

It is pointed out that it is to neglect to inform customers of important information while providing all necessary guidance.
