The GDP of 31 provinces in the first quarter of 2021.

GDP growth rates are both in double digits

Observing this list, the most obvious feature is that the first quarter GDP growth rate of 31 provinces all exceeded double digits, and the lowest growth rate was 12.1%.

Why did the GDP growth rate generally rebound sharply in the first quarter?

This is related to the low base in the same period last year.

Statistics show that in the first quarter of 2020, the GDP of the 30 provinces all grew negatively, and only Tibet maintained positive growth.

Hubei's growth rate ranks first in counterattack

Among them, Hubei, which was at the bottom last year, counterattacked with a growth rate of 58.3% and topped the list.

Data show that in the first quarter of 2021, the regional GDP of Hubei Province was 987.267 billion yuan, an increase of 58.3% over the same period of the previous year.

"The economy of Hubei Province had a good start in the first quarter," Hubei Bureau of Statistics commented.

As the province most severely hit by the epidemic last year, Hubei's economy was hit hard. In the first quarter of 2020, the first half of the year, the first three quarters, and the annual GDP fell by 39.2%, 19.3%, 10.4%, and 5.0% respectively.

Now, Liu Yinhua is bright, finally ushering in a positive change.

The GDP growth rate of 8 provinces outperforms the national growth rate

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, preliminary calculations show that the gross domestic product in the first quarter was 24,931 billion yuan, an increase of 18.3% year-on-year at comparable prices.

Among the 31 provinces, 8 provinces' GDP growth rate in the first quarter outperformed the national GDP growth rate.

  These 8 provinces are Hubei (58.3%), Hainan (19.8%), Zhejiang (19.5%), Jiangsu (19.2%), Anhui (18.7%), Guangdong (18.6%), Jiangxi (18.4%), Chongqing ( 18.4%).

Tibet's two-year average growth rate tops the list

In order to reflect economic growth more objectively, all 30 provinces except Hubei have released two-year average GDP growth rates.

The two-year average growth rate refers to the growth rate calculated using the geometric average method based on the corresponding period in 2019.

Judging from the average GDP growth rate of the two years, Tibet ranks first.

Statistics show that in the first quarter of 2021, Tibet achieved a regional GDP of 47.572 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.5% and an average growth of 8.9% in two years.

Tibet is the least affected by the epidemic. Tibet's GDP will increase by 1% in the first quarter of 2020, which is the only region in the country with positive growth.

After talking about the GDP growth rate, let's look at the total GDP.

The pattern of Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Shandong in the top three in terms of total economic output remains unchanged.

In the first quarter of 2020, Shanghai's GDP (785.662 billion yuan) was higher than Anhui's (782.13 billion yuan).

In particular, new momentum maintained rapid growth. In the first quarter, the added value of the equipment manufacturing industry and high-tech manufacturing industry increased by 40.8% and 44.4% year-on-year respectively.

The growth rate of Hainan's development should not be underestimated

In addition, Hainan's rapid growth has also attracted attention.

According to data from the Hainan Bureau of Statistics, the province’s GDP in the first quarter was 139.599 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.8% at constant prices (a decrease of 4.5% in the first quarter of the previous year); an increase of 14.4% over the same period in 2019, an average increase of 7.0 in two years %.

From the ranking point of view, the GDP growth rate of Hainan Province in the first quarter ranked second in the country; the average growth rate of GDP in the two years was also the second place in the country.

Taking advantage of a series of favorable policies in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Hainan's economy is skyrocketing, and the future can be expected.
