In addition to the state of emergency being lifted at the end of February except for one metropolitan area and three prefectures, the number of guests has already decreased due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in March last year. In reaction to that, it exceeded last year.

However, the number of overnight guests has decreased by 46% compared to March, which is still low.

In addition, the occupancy rate of guest rooms at hotels and inns was 34.3%, an improvement of 1.9 points compared to the same month last year, but it remains at a low level for March, when there are many trips.

The state of emergency has been declared for the four prefectures of Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto, which may hurt the tourism industry, but the government will be able to use it for accommodation and meals when the infection subsides. We will also support related industries by launching additional support measures such as providing financial support for "advance sales" discount coupons of local governments.
