"Emirates SkyCargo" transported 59 million doses to more than 50 destinations around the world

5% of the "Covid-19" vaccines were transferred globally via Dubai

"Emirates Air Cargo", the shipping arm of Emirates Airlines, confirmed that, since the outbreak of the new Corona virus "Covid-19" pandemic, it has led the global industry in transporting "Covid-19" vaccines, and other basic pharmaceutical preparations, and personal protective equipment. And foodstuffs, revealing that about 5% of the total vaccines "Covid-19" were transported and delivered quickly and safely in various parts of the world.

And it stated in a statement yesterday that it had transported about 59 million doses of "Covid-19" vaccines from production sites to more than 50 destinations around the world, within its network of lines across Dubai, while the vaccines that it transported were distributed into six different types.

According to the statement, governments and health authorities around the world are intensifying their efforts to protect societies from "Covid-19", by publishing vaccines on a large scale, at a time when estimates indicate "Our World in Data", an organization for research and data on progress in Confronting the world's biggest problems, until more than a billion doses of vaccines were given worldwide.

One dose of every 20 vaccine doses for the new Corona virus was transported around the world via Dubai on Emirates Airlines.

Specialist facility

"Emirates SkyCargo" stated that it has, at its headquarters in Dubai, a dedicated facility that has the approval of the European Union for good GDP distribution practices, and is used for storing and transporting "Covid-19" vaccines from manufacturing sites to a network of destinations distributed on six continents.

She explained that, thanks to its modern wide-body aircraft and innovative equipment, such as refrigerated and special containers, Emirates SkyCargo has been able, since October 2020, to transport and deliver about 5% of the total COVID-19 vaccines quickly and safely in various parts of the world.

Logistical initiative

"Emirates SkyCargo" indicated its cooperation in January 2021 with "DP World", Dubai Airports Corporation, and International Humanitarian City, to launch a global logistical initiative to transport and distribute vaccines through Dubai. In February 2021, it signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Children's Fund ( UNICEF), to give priority to the transfer of "Covid-19" vaccines, in support of the "COVAX Facility", the global initiative that aims at a fair global distribution of vaccines.

Emirates SkyCargo confirmed that Dubai and the UAE maintained their leading positions and centers at the heart of global logistics and supply chains during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UAE has also made rapid progress in vaccinating its citizens and residents against the virus, as they have given more than 10 million doses of "Covid-19" vaccines so far.

Emirates Airlines recently operated a special flight EK 2021 to celebrate the great progress the country has made in the vaccination campaign.

Transfer of sensitive medicines and vaccines

"Emirates SkyCargo" is a world leader in the air transport of heat-sensitive drugs and vaccines. More than 200 tons of drugs are transported daily around the world on Emirates Airlines aircraft, which helps provide treatments to global communities.

The tanker also provides the Emirates Pharma product for the safe and efficient transportation of heat-sensitive pharmaceutical and medical preparations.

It also works in cooperation with ground handling partners from more than 30 different destinations around the world as part of the Drug Corridor Program to provide enhanced heat protection for pharmaceutical products from origin all the way to the final destination.
