Replacing the already popular Opel Kadett, the Opel Astra F entered the market in 1991.

With 4.13 million units sold, it will become the brand's biggest commercial success at the “Blitz”.

At the time, it revolutionized the automotive world with its modern design that made it one of the safest and most economical cars on the market.

In 1994, Opel added 2 front airbags to further improve the safety of its occupants, who also benefited from reinforcement bars placed in the doors.

Available in 3 and 5-door versions, station wagons and convertibles (bodied by Bertone), the Astra was used on all terrains, including rallying where its GSI version was widely illustrated.

Finally, it has also served as a laboratory for testing alternative energies such as electricity (Astra Impulse III) or compressed natural gas (CNG).

It gave way to the second generation, the Astra G, in 1997.
