NTT and Fujitsu have decided to form a partnership to build a next-generation communication network.

We will jointly promote the development of semiconductors that utilize optical technology.

NTT and Fujitsu met online on the 26th and announced that they would collaborate to build a next-generation communication network "IOWN" that utilizes optical technology.

According to this, in June, NTT will acquire a 66.6% stake in a subsidiary of Fujitsu, which handles semiconductor design through its subsidiary.

After that, we will design semiconductors that utilize optical technology for base stations.

In addition, by utilizing Fujitsu's strengths in supercomputer technology, we will jointly develop technology for connecting devices via optical communication for data servers.

Development competition is fierce around the world for next-generation communications such as 6G, and NTT aims to realize technological development at an early stage by partnering with Fujitsu.

"We will leverage the strengths of both companies to promote joint research and realize a low-energy, high-efficiency digital society," said Jun Sawada, president of NTT.
