  Shenzhen: "May Day" holiday is approaching, hotel bookings increase 3.4 times year-on-year

At the front desk of the hotel, many guests have already waited in advance. On the day of the reporter's interview, the hotel's occupancy rate exceeded 90%.

A person in charge of the hotel told reporters that such a high occupancy rate began to recover in mid-March this year.

Up to now, 60% of the tourist sources are still business guests, but as the "May Day" approached, many parents, children and family travelers began to book rooms for small and long holidays.

  The reporter learned from a number of business hotels that the number of room reservations during the "May 1st" period this year has basically reached the level of the same period in 2019, and the average hotel occupancy rate during the short and long holidays is expected to be the same as before the epidemic.

Compared with business hotels, the booking situation of homestays is more optimistic, driven by the popular surrounding tourism.

The person in charge of a homestay in Shenzhen told reporters that, according to previous years' experience, their orders generally began to gradually start a few days before the "May Day" holiday.

But this year, the situation is beyond their expectations. Since April, there have been some orders during the "May Day" period.

If you want to pick a room you like, you may have to do it earlier.

  The availability of rooms has also contributed to the increase in booking prices. The prices of B&Bs in Shenzhen and surrounding areas have risen to varying degrees.

  Qunar data shows that as of April 15, 2021, the number of hotel reservations during the May 1st period in Shenzhen has increased by 3.4 times compared to 2020; the average guest unit price is 1,202 yuan, an increase of more than 40% compared to 2019.

The recovery of Shenzhen homestays is better than that of hotels. The current booking volume of Shenzhen homestays has increased by 1.8 times year-on-year in 2020; the average guest unit price is 1,567 yuan, an increase of 50% year-on-year in 2019.

The largest number is 2.072 million.

At the same time, the number of chain hotel rooms has increased by 166,000.

Therefore, in the case of relatively poor demand, it is difficult to reach its break-even point, and the pressure is definitely greater than that of chain hotels with members.

In addition, from the perspective of cash flow, in the chain model, many franchisees and brand owners will still have some mutual financial support and assistance.

  The expansion speed of chain hotels continues to accelerate.

In 2020, A-share listed company Jin Jiang Hotels will open 892 stores; Huazhu Group will add 1053 management franchise hotels and franchise hotels; BTG Hotels will open 250 new stores in the first half of 2020. It has signed a contract but has not yet opened and is currently in operation. The number of contract stores is 784.

The hotel chain has become one of the main trends in the development of the industry.

In itself, the chain trend is actually a general trend in the development of the entire industry.
