Dubai Economy reported that the total number of new licenses issued in the emirate during the past month amounted to 5,999 licenses, an increase of 46% compared to March 2020.

The Dubai Economic Department stated in the Business Movement report that professional activities topped the new licenses issued, accounting for 58% of the total, while the Bur Dubai region acquired the largest share of the total number of new licenses, with 4,366 licenses.

In detail, the business movement report issued by the commercial registration and licensing sector in Dubai Economy showed that the total number of new licenses issued during last March reached 5999, with a growth rate of 46% compared to March 2020, when 4,097 licenses were issued.

Category

The report pointed out that the licenses issued in March 2021 were divided into several activities according to the category of the license, with professional activities at the forefront of which were 58%, followed by “commercial” by 40%, while the rest of the percentages were distributed to tourism and industrial activities.

Regions

The report added that according to the main regions in the Emirate of Dubai, Bur Dubai region acquired the largest share of the total number of new licenses with 4,366 licenses, followed by Deira with a total of 1627 licenses, and then the Hatta region with six new commercial licenses.

Legal form

The Business Movement Report indicated that with regard to the legal form of licenses issued during March 2021, individual establishments accounted for about 37% of the total, while limited liability companies accounted for 34%, followed by civil works with 26%, while the rest of the list of legal forms included: Limited liability companies - one person (LLC), branches of companies based in another emirate, branches of companies / establishments based in a free zone, branches of Gulf companies, branches of foreign companies, and public joint stock companies.

The most prominent activities

The report indicated that the most prominent activities of the new licenses issued last month included: other professional services, contracting and related matters, building maintenance, guards and cleaning, cleaning services, information technology, ready-to-wear group, other commercial activities, food trade, electronics group, Restaurants and cafes.
