Before canceling the long-man service, Beijing Mobile had launched a "roaming discount plan", which was designed to reduce voice charges (including local and roaming voice charges) for customers.
Beijing Mobile said that the fees still being collected in the Beijing Youth Daily report are the monthly fees for the "Roaming Preferential Plan".
Starting from the maximization of customer benefits, if the "roaming preferential plan" is retained, Beijing Mobile will charge according to the principle of the best voice tariff; if the service is cancelled, the customer's voice tariff may increase.
In response to this response, a reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily found that the introduction of China Mobile's "Domestic Roaming Preferential Plan" service at that time stated that "After your application is successful, you will enjoy a discount of 0.39 yuan per minute for making and receiving calls while roaming in the mainland ( (Excluding international/Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan long distance and special numbers)”, the content of the activation package does not involve changes in ordinary call tariffs.
In response, Beijing Mobile replied to a reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily that when this service was launched, some users had a basic call rate of 0.6 yuan or 0.4 yuan per minute. "We follow the principle of preferential treatment, that is, which call is lower. If we take the initiative to cancel the package, the above-mentioned user tariffs will increase.” However, Beijing Mobile also confirmed that for users who currently have a basic call tariff of 0.2 yuan per minute, this plan package does not have any additional effect.
