At least 19 ministers and deputy prime ministers, the chief of staff and other officials:

Abdel Hamid Dbeibah

arrives in Ankara accompanied by an imposing delegation, a sign of the importance given to this visit.

First meeting

Since

taking office last month

, this is the first time that the head of the Libyan interim government has met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The two men will co-chair the first meeting of the Turkey-Libya High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

There will be a lot of

economic cooperation,

in the fields of energy, health, but also the reconstruction of Libya.

Turkey wants to play a leading role, and in particular intends to revive the contracts signed before the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Military and strategic cooperation

Discussions will also focus on military and strategic cooperation.

Turkey has been the main support for the Government of National Unity

(GNA, of former Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj) in Tripoli, in its fight against

Marshal Khalifa Haftar

.

This had enabled it to obtain a very favorable maritime delimitation agreement.

Preserving this agreement is a priority for Ankara, which uses it in its standoff with Greece and Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean.
