Dubai Economy allows restaurants to serve food during the day in Ramadan without curtains or façades

The Department of Economic Development in Dubai today issued a circular regarding the provision of food service during the fasting periods in the month of Ramadan, whereby the circular authorized restaurants in Dubai to provide food service to customers without installing curtains or covering the facades.

This amendment comes to replace the circular in effect for years, which required restaurants and establishments to install curtains or cover façades as a condition for serving food during fasting periods in Ramadan.

The Dubai Economy stated that the circular will take effect from the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, without prior permission from the department, so that this procedure is in line with the usual practices in force in this regard in restaurants in Dubai.
