The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has decided to strengthen the examination system in response to the problem that Fuji Media Holdings, which owns Fuji Television, violated the foreign capital regulation of the Broadcasting Law in the past.

It has been revealed that Fuji Media Holdings was in a state of violating the foreign capital regulation of the Broadcasting Law from 2012 to 2014 due to an error in the calculation of voting rights.

In response to this problem, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will establish a new department in charge of examination of foreign capital regulations, and in addition to examination when accrediting as a "certified broadcasting holding company", foreign corporations etc. even after accreditation Regularly check that the percentage of voting rights held by the company is kept below 20%.

In addition, we are considering requesting the submission of supporting materials at the time of examination.

In addition, although we violated foreign capital regulations this time, the certification was not revoked because the violation was resolved when we reported it to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

For this reason, we are considering reviewing the system to promptly report, as there is a risk of delaying reporting even if we notice a violation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications wants to improve the effectiveness of foreign capital regulations by strengthening such examination systems.
