A limited series of
sneakers
with satanic references and a drop of blood sparked a scandal in the United States, and the company that designed them - in collaboration with rapper
Lil Nas X
- was sued by sports equipment manufacturer
Nike
.
The
"Shoes of Satan"
were put up for sale by the firm
MSCHF
, which specializes in limited series products that are sold on the web.
The shoes were made in collaboration with the American rapper
Lil Nas X
, famous for his song
"Old Town Road"
, which was all the rage in 2019. The model is initially an Air Max 97 shoe manufactured by Nike, to which symbols that allude to the devil were added, such as an inverted five-pointed star, and to which a drop of blood was also injected on the sole, according to
MSCHF
.
"The
'Shoes of Satan'
were produced without an agreement or authorization from Nike," a company spokesman told AFP.
"
Nike
is not linked to that project at all," he added.
Nike demands to suspend the delivery of those shoes that were totally sold on Monday, at $ 1,018 a pair.
He also demands money for damages and interest but did not specify the amount in question.
Nike
says that model is a source of confusion and has exposed it to a possible boycott.
In recent days, the 21-year-old rapper also released a video in which he shows himself doing an erotic dance to the devil.
