According to TASS, Georgieva noted that the decision was made on the basis of the progress of the vaccination campaign in the world and the high rates of recovery in the United States and China.

“In January, we forecast that the global economy will grow 5.5% in 2021.

We now expect further acceleration, partly due to additional support, including a new financial package in the United States, and partly due to the expected vaccine-based recovery in many developed countries later this year.

This allows us to revise our forecast for this year and for 2022 upwards, ”she said.

According to her, the world economy is now "on a firmer footing."

Earlier it was reported that Georgieva will present a plan to expand the IMF's resources by $ 650 billion.
