27% increase in marriage of citizens in Dubai .. And a decline in divorce

The Dubai Statistics Center reported that the number of marriage contracts registered in the Emirate of Dubai during the last two months of January and February reached 1092, compared to 827 contracts during the same period last year, with a growth rate of about 32%.

A report by the center, of which Emirates Today obtained a copy, showed that marriage contracts between citizens increased during the past two months, by about 27%, compared to the same period last year, while divorce cases decreased by about 12.3%.

According to the data issued by the Dubai courts, the number of marriage contracts for an Emirati husband and wife amounted to 245 contracts (22.4%), out of the total number of registered contracts, during last January and February. As for the total marriage contracts for an Emirati husband married to a non-Emirati (includes cases of Emirati women married to a non-Emirati), It reached 160 contracts, at a rate of 14.7%.

Regarding marriage contracts (non-Emirati and non-Emirati), it amounted to 687 contracts, which constituted about 62.9% of the total registered contracts.

According to the data, 256 incidents of divorce were recorded during January and February last, compared to 364 incidents in the same period last year, a decrease of about 29.6%.

The number of divorce cases among citizens reached 57 cases, accounting for 22.3% of the total, while the number of divorce cases for a citizen married to a non-citizen (including Emirati cases married to a non-Emirati) reached 28 divorces, representing 10.9% of the total.
