Toyota Motor Corporation and truck maker Isuzu Motors Ltd. announced that they will acquire shares and form a capital alliance with each other.

Toyota will acquire a 5% stake in Isuzu for 42.8 billion yen, and Isuzu will also acquire a stake in Toyota of the same size.



The three companies, including Hino Motors of the Toyota Group, will jointly work on EV / electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles that run on hydrogen, and autonomous driving technology development, mainly in the field of light trucks.



Toyota and Isuzu once had a capital tie-up for the development of diesel engines, but they were dissolved three years ago, and this time they will join hands again.
