"In the current conditions on the country's fuel market, the Federal Antimonopoly Service instructed the territorial departments to strengthen monitoring of retail prices for petroleum products," RIA Novosti quotes the service. 

The FAS also explained that if signs of violation of the law on the protection of competition are detected, the service takes antimonopoly response measures.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy explained that the rise in prices for petroleum products in retail in the first week of March is associated with a number of factors, including seasonal demand and weather conditions.

Also, the director of the Energy Development Fund Sergei Pikin, in an interview with the FBA "Economics Today", gave a forecast regarding the recovery of the world energy market.
