Economy: A 21% increase in digital transactions during 2020

The Ministry of Economy revealed the completion of 466,261 digital transactions during 2020, achieving an increase of 21% in terms of the total number of completed transactions, compared to 2019, which recorded 385,778 transactions.

The Ministry attributed the increase in the number of digital transactions to its continuous efforts during the past stage to achieve the process of smart transformation by 100% in all its services provided to the public, in line with the vision of the leadership, and in support of the national trend towards digitizing government services, in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the National Agenda 2021. And enhancing preparedness for the next 50 years, enabling a proactive approach in government work, and consolidating the position of the UAE government as one of the best governments in the world in providing services according to the highest standards, in a way that achieves customer satisfaction and happiness, and raises the quality of life for citizens and residents in the UAE.

The Ministry of Economy recently announced the provision of its services through digital channels only, and the closure of all customer happiness centers in the emirates of the country, to be the first federal entity in the UAE to fully undertake this step.

Flexible and effective

The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Abdullah Ahmad Al Saleh, said that this step is a practical translation of the leadership directives and the strategy of the smart government in the UAE, as it contributes to achieving the highest levels of efficiency and flexibility in providing government services, and providing them to customers around the clock, at any time and from anywhere in the world. Through smart channels and easy steps, without the need to visit government headquarters, wait and present paper documents, which saves time, effort and costs for dealers.

He explained that this step made it possible to benefit from the functional cadres that were designated for the customer happiness centers, and to transfer them to other sectors and departments of the ministry to support their work and plans, which was an important step towards improving the work environment and developing the skills, competencies and human energies bank in the ministry.

Al Saleh continued: “The UAE is currently the first in the Arab world and the eighth in the world in the electronic and smart services index, issued by the United Nations for the year 2020, while the smart transformation step represents 100%, and the transition from the concept of service centers to digital channels, guarantees the continuity of providing services to individuals, companies and business sectors. In various circumstances, including emergencies and crises, as in the case of the (Covid-19) pandemic, which demonstrated the leadership of the UAE government and the superiority of the state’s digital infrastructure and services, which contributed to business continuity and the smooth access of the public to services, while preserving precautionary measures. Receive requests

In addition, the Ministry of Economy confirmed its readiness to receive all requests for transactions through the smart services portal on its official website, which provides 75 digital services, including: services for individuals, companies, investors and businessmen, and owners of innovations and inventions.

She explained that among the most prominent services are those related to certificates of origin, trademarks, patents, intellectual works, commercial agencies, foreign companies, industrial licenses, consumer protection, tourism, anti-dumping and harmful practices in trade, auditors, the Made in UAE mark, and cooperatives.

Happiness of dealers

For her part, the Director of the Department of Customer Happiness Channels at the Ministry of Economy, Amina Al-Hajj, affirmed the ministry's keenness to help senior citizens, residents and people of determination to obtain services easily and easily, and to provide support to them through her direct contact with the ministry's call center at 8001222 or mail The Ministry's e-mail info@economy.ae, or by receiving it directly at the Ministry's headquarters in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, if required, and assisting it in obtaining digital services.

300 thousand transactions «certificates of origin»

Certificates of Origin came at the forefront of digital services provided by the Ministry during the year 2020 in terms of the number of transactions, which totaled about 300 thousand transactions, followed by trademarks with about 105 thousand transactions, then patents with more than 28 thousand transactions, followed by commercial agencies that registered 11 thousand A transaction, while foreign companies recorded 6,000 transactions, 5,000 intellectual works, 4,000 human resources, 4,000 transactions, and the rest of the services were divided into categories: industrial licenses, private shareholding companies, consumer protection, the "Made in the Emirates" mark, cooperatives, and innovation.
