A major semiconductor manufacturer, Renesas Electronics' factory in Ibaraki Prefecture, had a fire on the 19th, including a part of its equipment burning.

Due to this fire, some production of semiconductors for automobiles has been stopped, which may affect future supply.

According to the company's announcement, a fire broke out at Renesas Electronics' Naka Factory in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, at around 2:47 am on the 19th.

It seems that a fire broke out from a facility called a clean room, which is the heart of the factory, and no one was injured, but some of the equipment was burned and other damage occurred.

For this reason, in this factory, part of the production, such as for the automotive semiconductor, have stopped, is that do not stand the prospect of resumption.

At this factory, we manufactured our own products that had been outsourced to a Taiwanese company due to a global shortage of semiconductors, but if production is suspended for a long time due to this fire, we will supply semiconductors in the future. It may affect you.

Renesas Electronics commented, "With the cooperation of the relevant authorities, including the fire department and police, we will thoroughly investigate the cause and work to prevent recurrence."
