Diplomacy, internal politics, the border is thin and the Israeli Prime Minister was counting on capitalizing on the agreements to normalize relations between the two countries, signed last summer and which promise stability and economic benefits, to seduce the Israeli electorate.
But these political calculations ultimately backfired.
They are seen as a real affront by the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Israeli press, Mohamed ben Zayed is furious with Benyamin Netanyahu and his attempts to instrumentalize these agreements.
The Emirati have just suspended preparations for a summit next April, which was to bring them together with the Israeli Prime Minister and a US administration official.
