The global attractiveness of the UAE, as the most preferred place for foreigners to work, has jumped six ranks, from the 19th place in 2018 to the 13th last year, according to a new study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group in cooperation with "Bayt.com".

A statement issued yesterday stated that the study included a survey of about 209,000 people in 190 countries.

The study indicated that the outbreak of the Corona virus greatly affected people's attitudes regarding moving to work abroad, and reduced their interest in it in general, but it attracted them to countries that were able to contain and manage the epidemic more effectively.

She emphasized that the UAE's rapid response to curbing the epidemic is a major reason to enhance its global attractiveness, as Dubai and Abu Dhabi ranked third and fifth respectively in the classification of global cities preferred by foreigners for work.

Global standing

A report, entitled "Exploring global talent trends, realistically and hypothetically," detailed the results of the recently published study on labor mobility and their preferences regarding the country they prefer to live in, highlighting the important factors behind the continued rise in the UAE's global attractiveness, in addition to To the reasons why cities in it, such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, have such a prominent global position.

"The position of the UAE has not been affected by the outbreak of the epidemic, compared to other countries, as this is a major factor behind the increase in its global attractiveness," said Christopher Daniel, managing director and partner in the Boston Consulting Group Middle East.

Daniel stated that the participants in the survey were very clear about the reasons behind the increasing attractiveness of Dubai and Abu Dhabi as preferred global cities to live and work, as for Dubai, which has advanced from sixth place in 2018 to third place in 2020, participants showed some of the attractions that The city was distinguished by it, such as the Expo 2020, and the rapid recovery from the repercussions of the epidemic, as well as providing support to the private sector.

And Daniel said that with regard to Abu Dhabi, which jumped from 51st in 2014 and 14th in 2018 to fifth place last year, the participants pointed out that this continuous improvement in the ranking is due to the continuous commitment to improving operations, in addition to the huge government investments, and following A new strategy for economic development.

Moving abroad

A study by "Boston Consulting Group" and "Bayt.com" showed that about 50% of people around the world are currently willing to move abroad in order to work.

The study indicated that this percentage is lower than it was in 2014, when it reached 64%, while in 2018 it reached 57%.
