For years Lego has been fighting tooth and nail against Chinese manufacturers like Qman, who, from the point of view of the Danes, bring nothing more than cheap copies of Lego brick sets onto the market.

And at least until a few years ago, Lego was clearly right: China clamp block manufacturers such as Lepin were notoriously known for copying entire Lego sets brick by brick - even the brand name was as close to the Danish original as possible.

Lego held against it with trademark litigation.

But then Lego lost first before the Federal Patent Court, then in 2009 before the Federal Court of Justice, the dispute over the 3D trademark protection for its building blocks - since then the competition has been allowed to unabashedly copy individual Lego stone designs and put together their own sets from them.
