During the two sessions of China, the UAE ambassador to China Ali Zahiri said in an interview with reporters that he was very honored to be able to attend the two sessions for the fourth time and witness China's most important annual political event.

When talking about the "Government Work Report", Ambassador Zahiri said that China has achieved a GDP growth of 2.3% in 2020 and plans to achieve economic growth of more than 6% this year. This achievement and goal are impressive.

This year's "Government Work Report" highlighted China's series of measures to restore the economy in the post-epidemic era, and its determination to continue to promote reform and opening up.

Among them, promoting stable development of import and export, active and effective use of foreign capital, high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, and deepening of multilateral, bilateral and regional economic cooperation will help the global economy recover in the post-epidemic era, and the UAE will also benefit from it.

Ambassador Zahiri believes that the "new development stage, new development concept, and new development pattern" proposed by the Chinese government provides new opportunities for domestic and foreign industries.

He is very concerned about how China can achieve self-sufficiency in advanced technologies, autonomous and controllable supply chains, strong implementation of dual cycles, and a roadmap to achieve net zero carbon dioxide emissions.

Ambassador Zahiri believes that China's future development plans mentioned in the "Government Work Report" are also key measures that are beneficial to China's global partners. These policies and measures will further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China.

Regarding the "14th Five-Year Plan" in the "Government Work Report", Ambassador Zahiri said that the "14th Five-Year Plan" is of vital importance to China and the world.

Technological innovation is the core of the "14th Five-Year Plan". The Chinese government has further increased its efforts to promote the development of industries supported by innovation. This coincides with the transition to a "knowledge-based economy" advocated by the UAE government. The prospects for cooperation in the field of scientific and technological innovation are very broad.

Ambassador Zahiri said that he looks forward to witnessing China's continued reform and opening up, and learning from China's effective measures on the road to economic recovery in the post-epidemic era, to further promote the UAE and China's comprehensive strategic partnership.
