As interest in the effects of alcohol on health grows, major beer companies are trying to display the amount of alcohol contained in canned beer, chu-hi, etc. in grams in addition to the conventional "alcohol content". It was decided to start.

By clarifying the amount of alcohol intake, the aim is to promote proper drinking.

Of these, Asahi Breweries will publish the amount of alcohol contained in beer and chu-hi on its website in gram units starting this month.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare stipulates that the amount of alcohol is about 20 grams per day on average as "moderate and appropriate drinking".

This is equivalent to one 500 ml can of beer or chu-hi with 5% alcohol content, but it has been pointed out that it is difficult to understand the intake amount by the ratio display, and by clarifying the amount of alcohol, consumers I want to encourage proper drinking.

Kazuo Matsuyama, managing director of Asahi Breweries, said, "In the future, we will be in an era of modest and autonomous confrontation with sake. As a company that sells sake, we would like to contribute to society."

Among beer makers, Suntory and Sapporo will start similar efforts later this year, and Kirin plans to label the amount of alcohol on cans by 2024, and the labeling is being revised to encourage proper drinking.
