Amidst high public appetite for allegations of speculation by an employee of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) in the Gwangmyeong Siheung New City, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Byun Chang-heum, former LH president and minister of affairs, came to the National Assembly to apologize.



Minister Byeon said in an emergency report of the National Assembly's National Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee today (9th), "As the minister in charge of the relevant affairs and the former head of LH, I feel very disastrous." I apologize."



Minister Byeon added, "I am well aware that the people have felt great disappointment and anger over this incident."



"We are accepting this as a very serious incident that influences public trust, and in order to restore the public's trust in the future, we will more strictly investigate allegations of speculation and punish speculators on the principle of zero tolerance. We will quickly come up with fundamental measures to prevent recurrence.”



Currently, the government has formed a joint investigation team supervised by the Prime Minister's Office and is conducting a total survey of land transactions in the third new city for LH employees, all employees of the Ministry of Land, and all immediate family members.



The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters has also initiated a full-scale investigation.



Minister Byeon said, "We will actively cooperate in the joint investigation led by the Prime Minister's Office and the investigation of the noodles, so that allegations of speculation will be clearly revealed."



He said, "If the fact of speculation is confirmed, we will take it as a rule of thumb by making it a rule of non-tolerance, and fundamentally, we will prepare systematic and meticulous recurrence prevention measures to prevent this from happening again."



At the same time, Minister Byeon suggested that employees of real estate-related agencies restrict land transactions and establish a system to constantly monitor land transactions by introducing a system to report on land transactions and a mandatory property registration system.
