The German airline Lufthansa made a record net loss of 6.7 billion euros last year and does not expect to be able to make a profit before the end of this year.

The company reports this in the annual figures on Thursday.

Due to the corona crisis, the airline will not be able to run at full capacity this year.

As a result, Lufthansa also expects to make a loss in 2021, but a smaller loss than in 2020.

Last year, the company's capacity was about a third of its normal capacity.

Lufthansa does not expect capacity to return to around 90 percent until the middle of this decade.

German society is struggling due to the corona crisis.

In 2020, 28,000 people lost their jobs and in Germany another 10,000 people will lose their jobs at Lufthansa this year.
