The National Bureau of Statistics of China issued the "Statistical Communiqué on National Economic and Social Development 2020" on February 28.

Sheng Laiyun, deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics, explained in the interpretation of the communiqué that according to the annual average exchange rate, China's total economic output in 2020 is expected to account for more than 17% of the world economy.

Su Jian, director of the National Economic Research Center of Peking University, said that last year the world's major economies fell into negative growth, and China's GDP still exceeded the one-hundred-billion mark, which is a very remarkable achievement.

He also said that even if the future growth rate declines, China's contribution to the world economy will be very obvious.
